Welcome to Module 3 of the Patchskill course Cyber Security for Boards, titled Technology Fluency for Board Decisions. This module is coded PS12m3.
This module consists of 6 sections, and each section has 5 lessons – a total of 30 short lessons that take 3–5 minutes each. You can listen to them as audio files on your phone or computer, read them on screen, or download the full module book as a PDF via the link on this page.
To make learning more engaging, you can collect badges and certificates by completing the quizzes connected to each lesson. We also recommend working with a learning partner – discussing the dilemmas in each lesson helps you reflect more deeply and retain knowledge longer.
About this module: Technology is moving faster than most boards can follow—but cyber decisions cannot be postponed. This module helps non-technical leaders build fluency in the technologies that shape cyber risk and resilience. You will learn, in plain language, how systems are attacked, how defenses work, and how emerging technologies—such as AI, blockchain, quantum computing, and OT—create new risks and opportunities. The module explains core security concepts, the architecture of modern infrastructure, and how to assess maturity without drowning in detail. You will leave equipped to ask sharper questions, challenge assumptions, interpret key metrics, and make informed choices in procurement, investment, and oversight.
